Click Baity, right?

Here’s what I mean.

I have made promises that I don’t ever intend to break. I have been married for almost three decades and am planning for several more decades in our future.

However, I have also said the following:
1. I will never live anywhere colder than Pittsburgh. -Welcome to Chicago, Patrick.
2. I will never serve as a Senior Pastor. 15 years as Senior Pastor in Georgia.
3. I will never do pastoral care. Who would want to visit people in the hospital? -You can see where this is going.

I have a friend who said, “If you are in your 50’s, look back at your 20’s and don’t think you were an idiot, you’re probably still an idiot.”

Yes, there are promises we absolutely need to keep. And then there are times we need to reflect, be open, and be willing to grow in says we couldn’t have anticipated earlier in our lives.

If I had kept the promises above:
1. I would not have met my wife.
2. I would have missed out on countless life lessons about leadership and community.
3. I would have not met some amazing people who have powerfully impacted my life.

Where do you need to stand firm, and where to you need to be open and take back something you said?

Peace.
